Colors

Right Color, Wrong Color

Even if the theory may seem complicated, the best way to understand which are the best colors for us and which are the wrong ones, is to stand near a window without direct sunlight with a big mirror and try fabric swatches of opposite seasons, such as, for example, see if it’s better pure white and navy or orange and brown.

The wrong color will make you pale, will accentuate circles under the eyes, will be too strong or too weak, and becomes more important than your face.

The right color enlightens the complexion, minimizes eye circles, and stays in the background making your face stand out. Remember, you have to look at the face, not at the color.

To work with color cannot be reduced to a formula right for everybody. To know the right colors can be a starting point to start experimenting to develop the ability to use color and choose those you like, that make you feel good, and are the most flattering.

The color that is flattering to the face can be not equally attracting on the whole body, especially if you are overweight.

Great surfaces of bright colors can make a big body look bigger. The cut and the style of the dress are equally important.

To know which is the group of colors that best enhances the skin tone makes it easier to choose the color to put near the face, but the color that lifts the face might not work for a certain style of dress. Color cannot be the only element which determines what you will wear.

In general

  • Winter: has dark, vivid and bright colors, all the primaries: black, white, navy, pure red. It has also very light icy colors.
  • Summer: has soft colors and all the pastels; it’s dark colors are more muted than those of Winter.
  • Autumn: has rich, warm and golden colors, both vivid and muted, dark and light.
  • Spring: it’s the most delicate of all seasons, and its colors are warm and golden, vivid and not muted, light ad medium.
